The unfair double standard for Christian WOMEN when it comes to work/life balance...

No one talks about it... but it's there.

Morning friend,

Grace here! šŸ™‚ šŸ‘‹

For my fellow sisters out thereā€¦

Many of us have been taught our WHOLE lives to focus on always serving others and make them happy at the expense of our own needs and desires. Thatā€™s what makes a ā€œgood Christian,ā€ right?!

Thereā€™s also pressure to always be responsible, detail-oriented, and go ā€œabove and beyondā€ in all that we doā€¦ so much so that a simple mistake can send us SPIRALING for the rest of the day (or week). #tooreal

AND, Iā€™m sure many of you can relate to the double standard of feeling caught between traditional gender roles that prioritize homemaking and caregiving, AND a full-time career and professional ambition. (ā€œIā€™m supposed to be able to do it allā€¦ right?!ā€)

While striving to balance work and personal life is tough for anyone, for Christian women especially, it really is often an even bigger challenge for us as we navigate all the expectations and pressures all around usā€¦

And often times, it just feels like TOO. MUCH. !! šŸ˜©

Friend, if you havenā€™t heard yetā€¦

ā

For we are Godā€™s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10

We hope all of this helps you STRIVE less and THRIVE more, when it comes to your workā€¦

Because work is NOT a bad thing! Itā€™s part of Godā€™s perfect design.

BUT, because of the brokenness of the world, most of us have been taught to work in ways that are NOT aligned with Godā€™s design and heartā€¦

And itā€™s no wonder it feels like an uphill battle. Because it is!! (When we do it the worldā€™s way.)

But when weā€™re aligned with Godā€™s design, thatā€™s where we flow in his grace.

When we view work as God intended us to, thatā€™s how we find freedom.

When we work WITH God and not on our own strength, thatā€™s how we work and live ā€œfreely and lightlyā€ the way Jesus invites us to (Matthew 11).

God has created you for his perfect purposes, which includes doing good work!

But not at the expense of all the other areas of your life, your relationships, and your soul, too.

ā

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

Mark 8:36

We pray that this devotional helps you learn what doing good work without losing your soul looks likeā€”and how itā€™s possible for EVERYONE. Including you!! ā¤ļøšŸ˜Š
